RTO4 is pleased to announce the launch of our 2024 Partnership Program.

This year there are three streams:

  • Signage and Wayfinding
  • Tourism Development Research
  • Digital Storytelling: Content & Promotion

RTO4 takes a holistic approach to Tourism, championing successful and sustainable tourism economies where the visitors that a destination attracts are just as important as the communities who serve as hosts. Thus, RTO4 is looking for projects that will provide short- and long-term positive impacts within the region and illustrate an understanding of the responsibility of destination stewardship. (Check the frequently asked questions link for points to consider when writing your application.)

This program is contingent on the Ministry of Tourism Culture and Sport’s approval of the 2024-2025 RTO4 Business Plan.

Partnership projects may be undertaken by:

  • Private & NFP Tourism Businesses
  • DMOs (Destination Management Organizations)
  • Municipalities
  • Festivals & Events
  • Tourism associations/attractions/interest groups (BIAs, Chamber of Commerce, Trail Associations)

Projects must occur within Waterloo Region or within Huron, Perth, or Wellington Counties.

Partners must be able to clearly outline how this project will impact tourism within RTO4.

Potential partners must (at minimum) provide a 1:1 match for the request. For example, a $5000 investment from the partner qualifies for a $5000 request from the Partnership Fund.

Applicants must demonstrate they have the capacity, financial and other, to execute the project in partnership (including meeting agreed upon timelines).

Partner contributions (i.e. matching funds) must:

  • Be monetary (in-kind contributions are not eligible towards the partner match total)
  • NOT be funding from other Ontario Government programs, such as Expereince Ontario, or Ontario Government agencies such as Destination Ontario, the Ontario Trillium Fund or other RTOs.
